The Nagpur police crime branch has successfully handled cases involving theft and burglary, resolving nine cases across two operations and providing relief to the public. In one operation, two burglars were caught, leading to the resolution of seven cases. The city police have recently intensified their efforts to address the rising concerns of vehicle thefts and burglaries among citizens. One notable incident involved the burglary at Mukesh Nipani's residence in Vaishali Nagar, where cash and valuables worth Rs6.54 lakh were stolen. The Pachpaoli police initiated an investigation and the crime branch launched a parallel probe. Through CCTV footage analysis, crucial information about the vehicle used in the crime was obtained, ultimately leading to the arrest of the suspects Ramakant alias Rambhau Shahu (27) and Narendra alias Bali Bokde (23). Upon interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in multiple burglaries and vehicle thefts, resulting in the recovery of stolen items and three vehicles valued at Rs9.53 lakh. It was revealed that both suspects were substance abusers, engaging in criminal activities to fuel their addictions. Ramakant was also linked to prior burglary cases at the Kalamna police station. In a separate incident, three culprits were arrested by crime branch unit 5 for two cases of vehicle theft, following an investigation into a bike theft at the Jaripatka police station. The accused, Akash Nagrale (27), Yogesh Chavhan (25), and Devendra Thakre (24), were apprehended with the help of CCTV footage and on-site intelligence.Two stolen vehicles have been recovered and the bike used in the crime has been seized, with a total value of Rs1.20 lakh. According to sources, the majority of vehicle thefts occur in busy or market areas of the city. Additionally, most burglaries are reported on the outskirts of the city, falling under the jurisdiction of police stations like Hudkeshwar, Wathoda, Pratap Nagar, and others. Local residents have requested increased night patrolling by the police to prevent such incidents from happening. Police have advised citizens to notify their neighbors and respective police stations if they plan to leave the city, allowing for heightened vigilance on their homes by both the police and locals.
